Our Safeguarding Statement

Veltia Care is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all adults in our care. We expect all staff, volunteers, and partners to share this commitment.

What is Safeguarding?

Safeguarding means protecting adults at risk from abuse, neglect, and harm. It also means ensuring that the systems, culture, and practices of our organisation actively promote the dignity, rights, and wellbeing of every person we serve.

At Veltia Care, safeguarding is embedded into everything we do from how we recruit and train staff, to how we design and review care plans, to how we respond when concerns are raised.

Our Core Safeguarding Commitments

Safe Recruitment

All staff undergo rigorous DBS checks, reference verification, and safeguarding training before working with individuals in our care.

Ongoing Training

Every member of our team receives regular safeguarding training aligned with current legislation and best practice guidelines.

Clear Reporting

Any concern, however small, is taken seriously. We have clear, accessible procedures for reporting safeguarding concerns at every level of the organisation.

Multi-Agency Working

We work closely with local authorities, the NHS, and other safeguarding bodies to ensure a coordinated response to any concerns raised.

Legal Compliance

Our policies are fully aligned with the Care Act 2014, the Mental Capacity Act 2005, and the statutory guidance on safeguarding adults.

Person-Centred Approach

Safeguarding is never done to a person it is done with them. We respect the autonomy and wishes of every individual in our care, always.

Types of Abuse We Are Trained to Recognise

Our staff are trained to identify and respond to all forms of abuse, including:

  • Physical abuse including hitting, slapping, pushing, or misuse of medication
  • Emotional or psychological abuse including threats, humiliation, or isolation
  • Financial or material abuse including theft, fraud, or misuse of funds
  • Sexual abuse including any non-consensual sexual act or behaviour
  • Neglect including failure to provide appropriate care, food, or medical treatment
  • Discriminatory abuse including abuse based on race, religion, disability, or sexuality
  • Institutional or organisational abuse including poor care practices within a service
